There was a Minecraft ARG organised by Mojang themselves for April Fools, and a lot of youtubers were covering it. I was watching Xisuma about it; his video was about getting the relevant snapshot ran on a server.
The ARG only started with a snapshot, but turns out the elements of it were dispersed through the versions for as back as what was called release 1.0/1.1, but looked more like alpha. The first hint took you to this early version, and from there it was supposedly stepping through every major release of the game. I think there was a Discord community for solving this riddle but i'm not quite sure; when i investigated myself (see below), i took information on first steps from somewhere, but it wasn't Xisuma, he just talked about the starting conditions so the snapshot.
The first lead was a sound found somehow in the snapshot, from which, when it was viewed as a wave profile in a certain program and with applying some computer magic it was possible to extract a screenshot (?). It displayed the inside of a narrow ravine with some random blocks of dirt and sand like a cave-in, a sign placed (i don't remember what was on the sign), and the f3 screen opened.
In this version, f3 displayed the version, coordinates and world seed, so the next step was just to go there. After confirming that the magical program works (or rather stopping halfway as even in the dream i haven't been able to understand the process) i did so.
After generating this seed and teleporting to the coordinates (well into tens of thousands of blocks), i indeed saw a sign there and other details matched. Then i exited the ravine and after this point any Minecraft stylistic in this dream ended, the rest was very reallifey.
Outside the ravine was a street with a lot of hot climate greenery around it and sparse houses, not very tall; i knew that one of them, a little down the street, was a university and that the next hint might be inside of it, in a library or something. I also knew i was now in Madrid.
I went up to the university. The building itself was concrete, about three or four stories, almost square in top-down profile, of light grayish / a little bit dirty white color, with a yard to the side of it with small, thin pine trees growing there. I approached the building through this yard; it was shadey, with no grass and a lot of dry pine needles on the ground. There was also a rusty seesaw in there and maybe some other kid equipment.
After the garden and very near the walls of the university, under a tree, i bumped into an asian-looking girl about my height. She happened to speak russian and we chatted for a while. She was from Odessa, living in Madrid now for 14 or 15 years, and was a student of this university. So i asked her if it is possible for me, someone who's not studying there, to enter and if not, if she'll be able to search for the hint inside for me. While talking, we went around the university to its fromt side: here there was a lot of sunlight, garden beds with flowers, and the roads were of medium white stone tiling (i think i was primarily looking down).
